Surroundings

The Ebro River, the longest in Catalunya/Spain, is 13 km away. The village of L’Ampolla lies directly along the sea. It is the last town before the large plain of the Ebro Delta, with its extensive rice fields and nature reserves. Next to the small harbour, there are some restaurants, supermarkets and bars.

Around the house is a hilly landscape, which is mainly planted with olive trees. In the background, you can see the sea and the mountain range of the large nature park, Els Ports.

By the sea, there is a hiking trail that connects L’Ampolla with the neighboring village of L’Ametlla to the north. The path (GR92) runs about 15 km along the sea with its red rocks and small sand and stone coves.

Walking southward along the coast, you will find a completely different landscape. After the long sandy beach, parts of which stay relatively uncrowded even in high season, you will find several paths leading into the rice fields and the plain of the Ebro Delta. The Ebro Delta is known for its large number of water birds, including flamingos.

It is possible to rent kayaks on the Ebro, or to go hiking in the mountains of the Els Ports nature park

The next largest town is Tortosa, which can be reached by train from L’Ampolla. It has a small old town and lies directly on the Ebro. From there, the Via Verde, a long cycle route, starts inland. There are also several other bike trails near La Bassa Mar.

Additional information on activities in the surrounding area will be available at the house.
